Like in the real trading world, a position in the holding's portfolio can be partially or fully closed.
The purpose of this feature is to avoid having a large unnecessary number of rows in the portfolio and to distinguish between Closed and Open P/L.
An example of how we partially close a position on the website:
1. In the holding's portfolio, we have a position in Apple, of 10000 shares. The shares were bought at the price of 205, and the Open Profit against the last price is US$220,100
2. We Take profits: we close half of the position; we sell 5000 shares at the current price: 227.01
On the website, to partially Close a position, we click on the type (BUY/SELL) of the specific row.
In this example, we realized half of the position (5000 shares) of Apple at the actual price: 227.01. We need to input the data of the closing trade and click on Close Position and Save Changes.
After closing the position, there will be only one row, with the updated number of shares and P/L.
The updated quantity of shares in the portfolio is 5000, the Open P/L is exactly half because we realized half of the position at the current price of Apple: US$ 110,050
